"Twilight"'s Kristen Stewart Is A "Precious Platinum Girl"

For those unaware, it takes quite a bit for me to bestow my compliment of Precious Platinum Girl upon any woman. However, at 20 years old, Kristen Stewart is more pulled together when it comes to handling men and the Prying Paparazzi than women twice her age. I am happy to see such confidence at a young age because it foretells her long acting career if she so chooses (knock on wood, do not want to jinx her).

I suspected she was a Platinum Girl when Robert Pattison told London paper The Sun at a dinner party for the BAFTA awards on February 21 that "It's extremely difficult for us" as Kristen looked on, "But we are together, yes!" It was perfect that Robert, not Kristen, said this. I looked around to see if she ever talks about their relationship, but I found no comments...anywhere! In fact, if anyone finds one, please send it to me.

Then I read an excerpt from People about Kristen's article in the June issue of Elle magazine. She says "I would never cheapen my relationships by talking about them. People say ' Just say who you're dating. Then people will stop being so ravenous about it.' It's like no they won't. They'll ask for specifics". Smart girl Kristen, very smart!

So, above and beyond why do I consider Kristen a Precious Platinum Girl?

1. Kristen let Robert tell the press about their relationship. She was not chomping at the bit so terribly excited to let everyone know that he is her love interest. Platinum Girls know it is better when a man initiates an "I love you", "I want you to meet my parents", "What's up between us?" Essentially, let the man run the show when it comes to making proclamations about the relationship - especially as it pertains to any "where is this going" discussions for at least the first six months.

2. One huge mistake that many female celebrities make is talking to the Prying Paparazzi about what they are doing and with whom or how interested they are in marriage. Kristen nailed it when she said that once you give up a little, everyone will want more. For any woman who is not a celebrity, a sure fire way to kill your relationship in its tracks is to go on and on about the man you are dating to his friends or anyone who knows him. Then he will know how much you like him and lose interest. Men like to chase. That's that.

3. Because Kristen keeps quiet, she is considered mysterious which is the heart of the Platinum Girl philosophy. Not everything should be said in life. Many therapists and people will tell say "communicate your feelings". But, when has it ever worked with a man when you wear your heart on your sleeve? Even if men say they want to know, it rarely yields the desired results. They might be responsive for a while, but will all of the sudden tell you "really, I am a loner" and go date the next girl who does not give him the time of day. Kristen's mystery keeps Robert guessing which is why he is always depicted in the press as being so crazy about her. He might date someone else intermittently, but it never lasts because he has to have Kristen, the woman who keeps him on his toes.

Based on how Kristen acts as a young woman in Hollywood and with men, I find it highly doubtful that we will ever see her running around crazily like Lindsay Lohan or flipping out on her ex-husband like Brittney Spears with Kevin Federline. I doubt she would even write Robert a poem in the manner Taylor Swift was writing a love song for Joe Jonas after their break-up. While I usually say that it is not a good idea for female celebrities to involve themselves with their leading male co-stars, in this case, I think Robert pursued her to no end.

As Platinum Girls know, never pay attention to a man unless you are certain he is dying to have you. Platinum Girls do not move their relationships forward or help out a man because he is "shy". We accept the reality that the men who want you will do anything. Conversely, men who do not want you will want nothing to do with you even if you change your hair color for him. Look around in your life, you know who wants you and does not.
